VIXY is a long unleveraged VIX ETF by ProShares and one of the most liquid VIX exchange traded products.
VIXY Exposure and Basic Characteristics
VIXY exposure is similar to other unleveraged long VIX ETFs/ETNs like VXX (iPath/Barclays). It is designed to track the performance of S&P500 VIX Short-Term Futures Index (long positions in the two nearest expiration months of VIX futures with constant maturity of one month). These exchange traded products are popular ways to get exposure to the VIX (CBOE Volatility Index), which is not investable itself.
